Location: Gibbon, NE 68840
Schedule: 1st Shift, 2nd Shift & 3rd Shift
Pay rate: $17.00-$19.00
Duties:
- Safely load and unload freight from trucks and trailers, using approved equipment and following proper procedures.
- Accurately stage freight and audit next-day route loads (ensuring trailers are prepped and freight is organized for upcoming shipments).
- Use handheld scanners or other tracking systems to scan, label, and check in freight, verify documentation, and freight condition.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment; handle damaged freight (recoup/restore) and perform related warehouse duties (e.g., disposing of packaging, sorting materials) as assigned.
Requirements:
- Ability to perform frequent physical tasks: lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying freight (often heavy items) throughout the shift.
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) is typically required for higher levels (Cargo Handler II); for entry level (Cargo Handler I) the physical ability and basic skills may suffice.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills, ability to follow instructions, perform basic math/counting, and work in a fast?paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Specific certifications or previous experience may be required for higher level roles: e.g., forklift (fork truck) certification, prior warehouse experience (1-2 years), experience with RF scanners/computer inventory entry.
