Machine Operator – Bindery & Finishing

Location: Elgin, IL
Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts (6am–6pm or 6pm–6am) – 2-2-3 schedule

Overview

We are hiring an experienced Bindery / Finishing Machine Operator to support a high-volume production environment. This is a skilled role responsible for operating and adjusting multiple finishing and converting machines used to produce printed and packaging products.

This position is ideal for candidates with experience in bindery, print finishing, or converting operations who are comfortable managing full production lines and leading workflow on the floor.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Set up, adjust, and operate bindery and finishing equipment including cutters, folders, collators, stitchers, and binding machines
• Operate perfect binders (adhesive binding machines) and ensure proper glue application and product finish
• Work with MBO folders and high-speed folding equipment
• Monitor and adjust tension controls, glue systems, and rollers for continuous production
• Coordinate multiple stations on a production line to ensure smooth workflow
• Read and follow job tickets and production specifications
• Inspect finished products to ensure quality and accuracy standards
• Perform minor machine adjustments, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance
• Maintain accurate production counts and documentation
• Support and guide team members on the production floor

What We’re Looking For

• Experience operating bindery, finishing, or converting machines
• Hands-on experience with equipment such as:
  • MBO folders
  • Perfect binders / adhesive binding machines
  • Cutting, collating, or stitching equipment
• Understanding of tension control, glue systems, and multi-station machinery
• Ability to read and interpret job tickets and production specs
• Strong attention to detail and quality control
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
• Prior leadership or lead operator experience is a plus
